A Guide to Comprehension Strategies for Students in Grades 3-6

Useful ways of helping our students understand and enjoy reading!

My name is Erin and I am currently enrolled at Saint Rose, pursuing a career in Elementary/Special Education. While at Saint Rose, I have been enrolled in a couple of different literacy classes and felt that the need for student's to understand and comprehend what they are reading is an extremely important task for a teacher. Currently, I am taking a literacy class that focuses on the grades of 3-6. I have decided to put together a website that provides easy access to a few different teaching strategies for helping students comprehension skills. Throughout this site, you will be able to see what the strategies are, what the goal of the strategy is and examples of how they can be implemented in the classroom. One other available, is there as a reminder of what levels of thinking and what comprehension skills we want our students to be achieving and using throughout their reading career. These are the keys to comprehension and sucess for children readers. I hope you enjoy and find this helpful!
